CIRTL Diversity Scholars

The Diversity Scholars were a multi-institutional and interdisciplinary group of faculty, consultants and university administrators. The Diversity Scholars were: 1) experts in diversity issues in STEM teaching and learning, and 2) faculty/instructors from the three CIRTL institutions (UW-Madison, Penn State & Michigan State) interested in incorporating diversity in STEM classrooms and laboratories.  They reviewed our resources and took part in a year-long dialogue around inclusive teaching in STEM.

From September 2004 to May 2005, the primary activity for the scholars was to review and provide feedback to the Diversity Team on the compilation of resources generated.

After the CIRTL Forum 2005, the Diversity Scholars will serve as key disseminators of the final products of the Diversity Institute. The Diversity Scholars will be encouraged to present the results of their work at national meetings and to promote the products of the Diversity Institute for use at their home institutions.

We would like to particularly acknowledge the following Scholars and CIRTL staff, who volunteered to facilitate workshops and initiate projects:

Dr. Wayne Jacobson
Professor Mary Wyer
Dr. James Stith
Dr. Michael Nettles
Professor Levi Thompson
Professor Alberto Cabrera
Dr. Shihmei Barger
