Why Howard University chose to join the CIRTL Network
The Howard University Graduate School recognizes that to be prepared for careers at top-level research universities, comprehensive universities, liberal arts colleges and community colleges, our graduates must be both excellent researchers and excellent teachers. Howard has long been a leader in this activity though its participation in Preparing Future Faculty (PFF), the Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) and other programs. We chose to join the CIRTL Network as another means to extend this leadership, particularly in the STEM fields. STEM graduate education has been defines as a priority for Howard University by its new president.
