What: Tenth Annual STEMES Conference

Where: Howard University, Washington, DC

When: Tuesday June 27th - Friday June 30th, 2006

Why: To provide an opportunity for non-tenured faculty members, post-doctoral associates and academic-track Ph.D. students to strengthen their preparation as college teachers in science, engineering and mathematics. Participants will have the opportunity to meet nationally-recognized experts in teaching and learning for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Cost: Accepted applicants agree to pay $1500 for participation in the 2006 STEMES Program. Cost includes double-occupancy lodging (single-occupancy rooms available for an additional $200), some meals, conference materials and daily travel from the hotel to Howard University.

How:

  • To apply: Review the information by following the links on the left, then complete the application process for admittance to the program. The deadline for applications has been extended to June 20, 2006.

  • To pay: Institutions are encouraged to include this conference as part of a startup package for new faculty; individuals may obtain support from their departments or respective Graduate Schools. Payment will be due by the extended application deadline of June 20, 2006. Applicants will receive detailed information on method of payment upon acceptance into the 2006 STEMES program.
