You have a beautiful accent

I have to admit that I hated English Language in middle school. My teacher was awful and I just couldn't see why I had to study a language that didn't make any sense to me when the closest people who spoke such language were living in an island that was by all means out of reach. Somehow I managed to have good enough grades. I improved in high-school, mostly thanks to a much better teacher and the fact that by that time I was obsessed with having good grades and couldn't let a weird language screw up my marks. This year, four graduate students and post-doctoral fellows from Vanderbilt University completed Teaching-as-Research (TAR) projects, exploring aspects of undergraduate education in their disciplines. CIRTL Network Exchanges from the University of Colorado Boulder

Three CU Boulder TAR fellows participated in CIRTL Network Exchanges in the spring of 2012 to present the findings of their TAR research to fellow institutions in the CIRTL Network.

Kristin Boles presented the findings of her TAR research and gave a colloquium about her coursework at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Kristin conducted a study in the fall 2011 to determine if simple glassware demonstrations helped improve student performance in general chemistry labs. Read More »

White House Honors Champions of Change in STEM

This week the White House honored 14 people as Champions of Change for their contributions to making the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math more accessible to Americans with disabilities. The impressive list of honorees include innovators developing new technologies to increase accessibility, scientists serving as role models and promoting careers in STEM, and graduate students mentoring in their communities.
