In Pursuit of a Diverse Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Workforce: Recommended Research Priorities to Enhance Participation by Underrepresented Minorities

After examining over 150 research efforts on underrepresented minorities in STEM, the authors of this study identified three research priorities: 1) improvements in methodology, 2) improvements in research linkages, and 3) exploration of new research areas. Continued collection of critical data and additional research on the factors that facilitate or limit student progression towards doctoral degrees and faculty positions are also needed.
