CIRTL Network Expansion: Welcome Letter

March 14, 2011

Dear Colleagues,

The NSF Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL) sees graduate education as the strategic leverage point for preparing the future national STEM faculty and thereby for advancing STEM undergraduate education in the United States. CIRTL seeks to prepare future STEM faculty to be both superb researchers and excellent teachers.

This year we will expand the CIRTL Network from 6 to 25 major research universities, and submit a proposal for continued funding from the National Science Foundation. We are in the process of identifying those major research universities interested in joining the CIRTL Network in order to shape the future national STEM faculty.

The CIRTL Network Institutional Expansion page includes materials introducing our plans for expanding the CIRTL Network. In addition, the outreach materials provide the overarching ideas and strategies of CIRTL as well as illustrate opportunities available for STEM doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows in the CIRTL Network.
