CIRTL Researchers Present at the Educating All of One Nation Conference
They presented “The CIRTL Diversity Institute: Collaborative Development of Diversity Resources for STEM Faculty, Future Faculty and Instructional Staff,” a paper co-authored by Professor Burstyn, Associate Professor Sherrill Sellers, and Graduate Assistant Katherine Friedrich. The CIRTL Diversity Institute, a collaborative national network of Diversity Scholars, has developed a set of diversity resources to enhance the teaching repertoire of future STEM faculty. The project engaged STEM faculty from the University of Wisconsin, the Pennsylvania State University, and Michigan State University with scholars from around the country with expertise in diversity issues in STEM teaching and learning. The resources developed include an annotated literature review, a resource book, a collection of case studies, a compilation of inclusive syllabi, a self-guided workshop and web-based resources on diversity in teaching and learning. The resources were developed with the input of the network of scholars in a community-based process. The Diversity Scholars reviewed the resources, and the materials were revised accordingly. Preliminary evaluation of the institute process and the resources was presented.
