Chemistry Faculty to Present Diversity Resources

Judith BurstynAt the 2007 meeting of the American Chemical Society, held March 25-29, faculty from CIRTL Network institutions UW-Madison and Howard University will demonstrate how the CIRTL Diversity Resources can be used for future faculty professional development.

The CIRTL Diversity Resources provide practical, useful strategies for effective teaching to address a variety of diversity issues. The resources were developed with the leadership of chemistry professor and presenter Judith Burstyn of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Chemistry professor and co-presenter Nilhan Gunasekera of the University of Wisconsin-Rock County is also involved in the development of the Diversity Resources. Gunasekera frequently delivers hands-on workshops to STEM faculty demonstrating the many uses of the resources.

Burstyn and her co-presenter, chemistry professor Folahan Ayorinde of Howard University, will draw upon their experiences sharing the resources with future faculty and new faculty at the 2006 STEM Education Scholars Program, a CIRTL program hosted at Howard University.
