Delta Open House to Showcase Fall Programs
The Delta Program is offering many events this semester for the campus community, said Don Gillian-Daniel, Delta’s Assistant Director. New programs include a diversity-oriented course in which instructors explore their campus learning environment, as well as an online course addressing issues of learning, teaching, and assessment through Teaching-as-Research. Students from CIRTL’s Network institutions will be participating in the online class, which is the first opportunity for participants in the Delta Program to be part of a joint Network activity. Delta is a learning laboratory for science, engineering, mathematics and social science graduate students, post docs and faculty. Its community-based professional development model can be adapted to various university settings. On the UW-Madison campus, Delta’s courses for graduate students are structured as a series, ending with an internship, creation of a teaching portfolio, and a certificate. Delta also offers discussion-oriented programs, such as the monthly Roundtables, which are open to faculty and other instructors as well as to graduate students. |
