AbstractUniversities rest their legitimacThe University of New Hampshire’s Academic Programs in College Teachings "coaches" while students work in groups on specially constructed workshop problems. All new faculty attend orientation sessions on our instructional program; new junior faculty receive ongoing mentoring. Our TA Training Program is continually adjusted to stay current with instructional practice. It is proposed that we enlarge TA-training into two graduate courses, to address faculty responsibilities as well as TA duties. Speakers with strong views on university-level mathematics education discuss their positions in colloquia and seminars. Outside panels discuss the expectations of (and the experiences of) new faculty in various kinds of math departments. Some of our new outgoing graduate students and our incoming young faculty participate in programs like Project NExT (New Experiences for Teachers) in the Mathematical Association of America.
