Jeff Klukas's CIRTL Exchange
Jeff’s CIRTL Exchange has come and gone. It was a pleasure having him on campus and all in all, I think the exchange went well. Jeff gave three presentations, all in our department of physics. Two of Jeff’s talks were on his teaching as research project. One of the talks was to a full house for the Physics Education Research (PER) group the other was as a brown bag for the preparing future physicist group which is one of our PFF programs.
Monday morning Jeff visited the Graduate Teacher Program and went to lunch with GTP staff. Monday evening Laura Border, Director, Graduate Teacher Program, John Cumalat, Professor of Physics, and Patricia Rankin, Professor of Physics, took Jeff to Dinner and discussed professional opportunities with him.
In addition to the Jeff’s TAR project, Jeff was able to share his disciplinary work with the High Energy Physics group. This turned out to be a particularly good fit as the past chair of physics, John Cumalat and Jeff are on the same experiment at CERN. In fact, John had just returned from seeing the first Beam collisions at CERN a few weeks before.
I got to close off Jeff’s visit by having dinner with him Thursday night. Jeff said that while he was tired he had enjoyed the experience and thought it was very worthwhile.
A picture from Jeff’s talks are included below. We will post links to the videos of his presentations soon.
