| Abstract | Students are often introduced to gene regulation and the carbon cycle as separate units in a course. The goal of this project was the development of a teaching module, which employs backward design and active learning techniques, connecting gene regulation to primary productivity. The module required students to predict outcomes of experiments, and construct connections across scales. This study focuses on module development and assessment of the module in a classroom. |
