Boulder-Japan Exchange Program

I wanted to make sure that people in the Boulder, Co area are aware of this opportunity to host a Japanes student in their homes - especially since it fits in with the current theme of the blog.

JAPANESE STUDENTS NEED HOST FAMILIES

Monday, July 20-Monday, August 10, 2009!!! Have a new and exciting international experience this summer!! Host a Japanese girl (ages 14-17) for three weeks in your home. Learn about Japan and the Japanese culture while she learns about living in an American family. Students participate in a program of field trips and classes held during the weekdays at Colorado University. A wonderful experience for families with children of all ages! This Japanese program has been coming to the Boulder area for 31 years! Contact Kristy Shine (303) 661-9170 or email: richardkristyshine@q.com General website information on hosting a student: www.compass-usa.net (then click on the host families link).

Arrive ok?

Hi Tricia,

Just wanted to see if you arrived safely. When you can, tell us how your talks are going, what you're seeing, and who you're meeting.

Take care,
Nola

Talks

Talks in Sapporo with a group of women scientists from universities around Japan who are leading gender equity efforts. In Tokyo we are visiting a couple of universities, the cabinet office and the committee on science and technology policy. Talks are going well and I am learning a lot about gender equity issues and japanese culture. Now I am back in Tokyo hope to have a bit more time for blog - it has been hectic so far - but riding the monorail from haneda to the hotel was fun! Tricia
